Stay with Me By Ayobami Adebayo Written by Temitope Babaoye || Book Club

''There’s a thin line between love and hate,'' a popular saying goes. Ayobami Adebayo’s spell binding book, Stay with me will have you grudgingly treading along those lines as you flip through every page and chapter of her book.

In the first few chapters of the book, we are introduced to Yejide, the protagonist, a beautiful, middle aged woman who takes us on a journey through time to reveal intricate details of not just her traumatic marriage but her arduous life.

Set mostly in Ilesha, Jos and Lagos, we follow her journey and experience the highs and lows of her life; meeting the one, falling in love with her husband Akin, the endless wait for a child, forcefully accepting a younger wife and also having to lose many children to the same illness.

Yejide’s unending quest to find a solution to her children’s illnesses opens up a can of worms filled with lies, deceit and the ultimate deception.

Stay with me is a book that completely drags you in and makes you love and hate its characters all at the same time.

Ayobami Adebayo takes her readers on an unforgettable voyage while addressing tangent life issues such as infertility in couples, polygamy, financial independence, female empowerment without leaving out the power of love and forgiveness.

This book left me on the edge of my seat and constantly going through the motions of happiness, worry and sadness.

I would definitely recommend it for those who love a book with a great plot twist.
