The Eyo keepsake is inspired by the popular Eyo Masquerades which are usually seen showcasing their dancing prowess during the festival which is held in Lagos. The Eyo is dressed in white apparels with a hat holding a traditional iconic staff know as 'opambata'. They represent the spirits of the dead and are referred to in Yoruba as 'Agogoro Eyo' literally known as 'tall eyo'.
Legend has it that the 'Eyo' came as a result of the need to protect a deity from activities of hooligans who wanted to destroy or steal it.
